Efficiency spurs medical group merger

The Medical Group Management Association will combine with its certification body, the American College of Medical Practice Executives, to form a single association named MGMA-ACMPE on Jan. 1, 2012, the two organizations announced Oct. 25. MGMA, a $27 million-revenue association, currently has 22,500 members, while ACMPE has 6,750.Members of both groups will automatically transition to the new association and pay dues equal to MGMA’s annual dues, as opposed to the additional fees currently levied on those seeking ACMPE certification.
